Beth was one of the most wonderful people I have ever known in this lifetime.  She was always so positive - and she was, as Richard Russo described a character in his lastest book -  "deep down kind."

Tonight I had to pick up Bernadette at the high school and it was just around sunset.  The
sky was filled with a glowing orange color and it seemed as if the whole atmosphere was infused with a warm rosey light. Parts of the sky were gold, orange rose-colored and twilight blue.  The windows in houses were glowing golden.

I had to pull over to the side of the road so I could take in all of the beauty of the place we
call home - in the town Beth called home.  I imagined how much Beth loved to walk in our neighborhood and how deeply she would've drunk in this mystical time between day and night.  When I pulled over I seemed to feel her deep serene sweet presence and thanked God that her ordeal was over and she was at peace.

Her love and her serenity, her respect of people will forever linger like a beneficent presence in our neighborhood where she loved to walk.

Madison is a better town because one of the best and most beautiful souls resided here.

Our beautiful Beth, Goodbye.

We'll know who it is on a sunny morning with a bright blue sky...
We'll know when we see smiles like yours on other faces.
We'll know when we feel wind in our hair, sun on our skin,
and love for the world bubbling up from nowhere,
that you're right here, standing beside us, helping us see the beauty all around.

You've changed each one of us in little ways - and some big, too -
and we are so much richer and better for knowing you.
We'll  miss  the sight of you always, a bright
sunbeam moving around the town.
Yellow hair flying and arms swinging, telling us that if Beth
is walking, all must be well.
We know that you'll be with us forever, all around.
Not Goodbye, but hello,
Beth, our beautiful friend.

Beth Korsgaard left us on the morning of October 31, 2007,
to begin another step of the journey.
