Jane Ritter, 90 OGUNQUIT - Jane P. Ritter, 90, of Ogunquit, died May 10, 2004 at Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Blackfoot, Idaho on Dec. 8, 1913, a daughter of Bruce and Winstead (Davie) Parmelee. She attended school in California and earned her B.A. degree in teaching at Gorham State Teachers College. She met her husband, Chris Ritter out West, and in the 1950s they settled in Ogunquit where she taught elementary school. Her husband, an artist, operated an art studio and frame shop on Route 1 in Cape Neddick. He died on Aug. 8, 1976. She was a longtime active member of the Maine Teachers Association and loved traveling the globe. Surviving are one sister, Jeannette Powell of Springfield, Idaho; three nephews, Mark Powell, Milton Powell and Ralph Powell; and one niece, Kathryn Watson, all of Idaho and Wisconsin. A funeral service was held Saturday at Bibber Memorial Chapel, Wells, with Pastor Charles Jepson Jr. officiating. Burial was at the First Parish Cemetery in York. |
