SECOND ANNUAL “PANTRY APPLE” PROGRAM A SUCCESS!
In recognition of National Hunger Awareness Day on June 3rd,
Kings Super Markets in Morris County and several local businesses collaborated
with the Interfaith Food Pantry to fight hunger in Morris County by
participating in the second annual “Pantry Apple” sale. During the first two
weeks in June, customers were able to purchase paper “Pantry Apples” at each
checkout counter or cash register. All proceeds from the sale went to the
Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County.
Thanks to the generosity of the shoppers and Associates of
King’s, $4,464 was collected at the King’s Super Markets in Boonton, Chatham,
Florham Park, Mendham, & Morristown. Additionally, a total of $1,090 was
collected from the following local participating businesses: Lovey’s, South St.
Creamery, Filling Station, Longfellows and Scotti’s Records in Morristown,
Atlanta Bread Company and Tiffany’s in Morris Plains, Viking Bakery and Diamond
Spring Diner in Denville, Foodtown in Mt. Tabor, Curves and Atlanta Bread
Company in Madison, Inspired Design in Pinebrook and the Whippany Diner.
“We are extremely pleased with the success of the program
and grateful for the support of King’s, Refined Sight in NYC who provided the
posters and “pantry apples”, our local participating businesses and the
community” said Rosemary Gilmartin, Executive Director of the Food Pantry. “We
hope this annual event will continue to raise awareness of the hunger issue
within Morris County and keep the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors alive”.
Prizes for the top two selling Associates from King’s
Super Markets overall went to Matt Walker from Morristown and Ellen
Caputo from Mendham. The other top selling Associates were: Chatham:
Devon Fowler (2nd year in a row), Elaine Spenser, Ruta Yaciw;
Florham Park: Minati Mazundar, Daniel Wanex; Mendham: Mike Davey,

businesses, Foodtown in Mt. Tabor was the top seller with Curves
