The Pantry, which began in 1994 by supporting five families, is currently
distributing more than 3.8 tons of
food to 239 families each week. The Pantry's clients are primarily senior citizens living on fixed
incomes and low-income working families.
Applications are taken, and food is provided to
anyone from Morris County in need. The Pantry gets referrals from many
places including: churches and temples, hospitals, and schools as well as local
agencies such as the New Jersey Battered Women's Shelter, Morris County
Department of Human Services and the Interfaith Council for Homeless Families.
Food Bank and Clearing House
We find ourselves serving as a food bank and clearing house for many other
groups. There is no food bank in Morris County, yet many want to donate
locally. As we get calls regarding available food or other items, we pair
groups we know are looking with donors, or hold items until we find where the
need is.
Information, Education, Volunteer
Opportunities
Last, but not least, we feel it is important to
provide information and education about the needs in our community as well as
volunteer opportunities where people can feel they have actually made a
difference. With this in mind we offer tours, orientation programs to
youth and adult groups, make presentations at local churches and clubs, and
provide volunteer projects for all ages.
